Event at Two Birds Tattoo

Come join us for June's art walk and the art of Cameron Lacombe. Explore the world of cinematic characters from an era of excess in film, while wine, refreshments and snacks are served. Cameron describes his work:

"I’m primarily interested in exploring portraits of characters with sweaty brows, stubble, gnarly teeth, or a crazy look in the eyes. Heroes, villains, and beasts from the 70’s and 80’s are usually my focus. The bulk of my work consists of characters I enjoy or moments that give me a strong sense of nostalgia. I often employ a more exaggerated appearance through proportion, line quality, and color.

I’m influenced by the caricature work of Drew Friedman, and Robert Crumb. I’m also a really big fan of Florian Bertmer, Tyler Stout, Ghoulish Gary Pullin, and Jason Edmiston. While my original intention was to paint purely for my own amusement, I have found that I enjoy the effect my work has on people. It’s fun to see someone identify with the characters I paint. If someone is seeing it for the first time, watching them react is a way for me to see it in a new way."
