Artist Statement:
I have been interested in representing movement in my drawings and paintings,
the way lines, or color can move under, over and thru each other. This series of paintings,
where so much fun to create, as the process is all about how the paint moves
on and around the canvas. The final design despends on what colors move over and
under each other. I created the paintings by mixing pouring medium with acrylic paint.
I pour the paint at one end of the canvas and tip the canvas back and forth to send the
paint moving around to cover the canvas. The paint drips down the sides and off of the
canvas. The pouring medium helps create the “oil slick effect” - causing the paint to
slide around and over each other without mixing. Each painting is completely unique,
and the final image is dependant on the movement of the paint.
