EYE CANDY, Paintings by Pete Gorski
Start: July 4, 2014, 9 p.m.
End: Sept. 4, 2014, midnight
Event at Sanctuary Tattoo
Pete's paintings are narrative in nature. They may have been inspired by a lyric from a song, a quote read or overheard or, as is often the case, a concept or character that he just needed to get down in paint.
His work has a very definite emphasis on the human figure, concentrating on the subject's face. A portrait painted successfully is much more than just the surface the eye sees. It is a capturing of the soul, the character, however odd, that the eye cannot necessarily see.
These paintings are portraits done in reverse, with the genesis of the character being a conjured or known soul, and a physical being created from that.
