Interior: Spring/Summer 2016

Philadelphia, PA – Central Tattoo Studio is pleased to announce the opening of Justin R. Webb’s solo exhibition, Interior: Spring/Summer 2016, in the first floor gallery space located at 171 W. Girard, Philadelphia. The exhibition, Webb’s first with Central, opens on June 3rd and runs through August 28th. An opening reception will take place on Friday, June 3rd from 6-10pm.

In Interior: Spring/Summer 2016, Webb has created a 2-dimensional installation using multiple wall hung canvases strategically placed around the exhibition space. Each canvas reflects a different perspective of an undisclosed domestic scene in which Webb creates open-ended narrative through his use of the mise-en-scène.

The visual narrative and its affect on the viewer is a major theme in Webb’s work. By incorporating art historical references and commonplace objects in the space, Webb aims to trigger an emotion or feeling of nostalgia within the viewer. Webb invites the viewer to take part of the narrative and construct their own story based on their personal experiences.

Justin R. Webb is a painter and sculptor living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Webb received his BFA from the Kendall College of Art & Design and his MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Webb is a current artist-in-residence of The Church Studios at Olivet Presbyterian Church located in the Fairmount neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA. Recent exhibitions include The Woodmere Art Museum, PA; Nahcotta, NH; Cerulean Arts, PA; Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery at UArts – Window on Broad Project Space, PA; and the Alumni Gallery at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, PA.
