Matt Stebly is a full-time artist the works in painting, pottery and tattoos. He started tattooing in 2008 and quickly became a well-known name in the local tattoo community. Stebly comes from a popular and established artistic family from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which led him to get a very young start working in the arts. Being from a family of vast artists, Matt was drawn to tattooing as a way to distinguish his art, as well as grow within a new media that he had grown to respect. In 2012, Stebly opened his own shop in his hometown of Ocean Springs, MS called, Twisted Anchor Tattoo, after apprenticing and tattooing for nearly five years. Twisted Anchor Tattoo, although very much a tattoo shop with the constant sound of buzzing in the background, is also playing a prominent role in the local Arts Community with its gallery and monthly art shows. The artists who share the space with him are always encouraged to explore their art in different forms and media.

The Gulf Coast has always had a strong impact on Stebly’s art and subject matter, which will be beautifully displayed throughout the custom tattoo shop. He finds himself drawn to using vibrant colors and bold lines that can only be described as “illustrative,” to accentuate his stylized point of view.
