Personal Artist Statement:

I work and teach in many styles and media including oils, colored pencil and pastels. I am a native of New Bedford, MA and a self-taught portrait artist who strives to capture the essence and likeness of the subject. My objective is to combine the physical as well as the inner qualities to achieve a more lifelike painting. My style is soft with a high degree of realism. While my passion is portraiture and the study of the human face, I also enjoy creating still life paintings, and more recently, have delved in to animal portraits as well as murals.

I have created hundreds of commissioned works and exhibited paintings in museums and galleries including several invitational shows, and have been awarded a number of blue ribbons. I hold classes in my studio at Paper City Studios in Holyoke, MA where I enjoy teaching both children and adults. I have also taught at the Summer Institute for the Gifted at Amherst College and at the Connections After School Program in Amherst, MA.
