Many of us have been wondering what we can do to show support and solidarity with people who feel they are threatened by the recent policital climate. Recently it feels like the whole world has taken a hard shift towards intolerance, setting back social progress and creating a dangerous climate where racists and bigots feel empowered. In respose to this, the Safety Pin symbol arrose in Britian after Brexit as a way to show those most at risk that they have allies and can feel safe. Now we are in need of a similar symbol. Wearing the Safety Pin shows that people of all genders, races, abilities and country of origins are safer in your presence. This simple symbol speaks volumes. Its says that you are an ally to those most in need.
