Black Wave Tattoo is the original home of the tribal tattoo on the mainland. Founded by Leo Zulueta who is widely credited with popularizing tribal-style tattooing in the United States, and current owner Su'a Sulu'ape FreeWind, protege of Leo is known for his culturally correct tribal design as well as contemporary neo-tribal. As the adopted son and student of Su'a Sulu'ape Petelo of Samoa, he also specializes in traditional tatau using Polynesian, Indonesian and Native American hand tools, as well as modern machine tattooing. Black Wave Tattoo has been dedicated to culturally correct representation of world tribal. All our artists are skilled in tribal, black-and-gray and colorwork.
